This exceptional single cask release from Renaissance combines robust pot still rum with the sophistication of Bordeaux wine. Crafted using Taiwanese molasses with an impressive 13-day fermentation, the expression initially matures in American white oak before being transferred to a single barrique from Château Léoville-Poyferré in Saint-Julien.
The first-fill red wine cask introduces scents of dried figs, summer berries, and French oak spice to an already rich spirit featuring notes of pineapple, guava, and mango.
Despite Taiwan’s subtropical climate facilitating relatively rapid maturation, this intensely flavorful rum achieves an admirable balance between cask influence and spirit character.
A delight for those with an adventurous palate, it serves as further evidence that Renaissance stands as one of the most captivating small distilleries globally.
