Milk & Honey Single Malt Single Cask Ex-Islay Cask Exclusive for Belgiu

This is a 2017 Milk & Honey single malt whisky that underwent maturation in a refill American oak ex-bourbon cask. Notably, this cask had previously held Scotch whisky from the southern coast of Islay.

Nose:
The initial impression is reminiscent of smoldering grass cuttings, evoking images of late summer bonfires. This is followed by the aroma of roasted apples and pears, accompanied by subtle hints of sweet barbecue sauce and the scent of freshly turned gravel. As the bouquet unfolds, you’ll discover notes of white chocolate and black pepper, all wrapped in a gentle sea breeze.

Palate:
On the palate, the whisky presents a rich and oily texture, with dominant sweet and fruity flavors. You’ll taste notes of apples, candied lemons, and sweet oranges, complemented by poached pear and a handful of sultanas. There’s a gentle waft of smoke in the middle, reminiscent of an autumnal blend of burning wood and leaves. Hints of sweet liquorice linger discreetly in the background.

Finish:
The finish gradually evolves into singed oranges and lemons, eventually giving way to the flavors of wine gums and lingering woody embers.
