The current version of Johnnie Walker Red Label was introduced by brothers George and Alexander Walker in 1909, although it had existed under the name Walker’s Special Old Highland Red Label for some time prior.
Alexander created a whisky blend that was better suited for mixing with soda, departing from the heavier and more traditional whiskies.
He named it after his grandfather, who initiated the family business in 1820. Presently, it stands as the world’s most widely consumed whisky and is available in over 200 global markets.
